Numerical study on a vessel emergency bypass device

Abstract

3D numerical simulation is carried out to calculate the flow field of a vessel intake system. And the resistance influence of shutter and filter is concerned. On the basis of steady simulation, the relation between the open angle of the emergency bypass device and the total pressure difference of measuring points are studied, and the smallest open angle is found. Then, unsteady simulation is used to prove the validity of the smallest angle , and the variation of the total pressure difference is verified.
