Aspect of marine meteorology and  oceanography for the direct shipping 

Abstract

One of the direct shipping routes, Taichung/Xiamen, was chosen for the monitoring. The aim of this study is to sort the relationship between wind and wave data in the interested shipping area. The satellite was a means to monitor the area in order to reveal the aspect of marine meteorology and oceanography. Result shows worse weather is more likely to take place in the northeast monsoon season than in the southwest monsoon season. The observed wave height along the shipping route is within 4 meters (335 days, 92 percent in one year). A fourmeter wave resistance could be estimated to represent the route area. Consequently, a steelbuilt ship over 5,000 gross tons can be considered for the specific route throughout the year.
