Model test investigation for the responses of  ITTCSR192 semisubmersible platform

Abstract

This paper presented the results of modal test of an offshore semisubmersible drilling platform conducted in the wave tank in Harbin Engineering University. Test modal used with a scale of 1∶[KG-*2]70, which was the standard modal prescribed by 20th International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC).The semisubmersible drilling platform was tested in regular waves with the model oriented in the head, beam and quartering directions. Results were obtained as response amplitude operators (RAO) in surge, sway, heave, roll, pitch and yaw. Dynamic responses measured in the modal test were compared with the numerical results and experiment data provided by ITTC. Results show that the experimental measurements match well with the numerical results and the ITTC criterion.
