Static analysis of multi-component catenary mooring system

Abstract

Based on the classical catenary theory, this paper derived the static equations of the N-component catenary mooring system, and then the geometric deformation and tension distribution along the catenary mooring line with any number of components were acquired. This methodology can greatly facilitate the static analysis of the multicomponent catenary mooring system, and can also provide the starting values for the dynamic analysis parameters. In addition, it can be also used to static calculation of mooring system for ocean engineering simulator.
