Experimental study on bimodal characteristics of mean longshore current over gentle slope barred beaches
In order to clarify the characteristics of longshore current in barred beach topography, the characteristics of bimodal profiles of the mean longshore current velocity profiles in different periods along the barred beaches were studied by the longshore current experimental measurements of two slope barred beach with different period. The characteristics and ratios of the bimodal values were mainly analyzed, and the influence of the period on the bimodal velocity distribution characteristics of the mean longshore current was considered. The results show that the average longshore current velocity distribution of barred beach topography has bimodal characteristics, the first peak occurs in the middle of the shore facing side of the barred beach, and the second peak occurs near the shoreline; for the same barred beach topography, the positions of the two peaks of longshore current velocity distribution are fixed. The increase of the period can not change the position of the double peak value of the velocity, but can increase the ratio of the two peak values, which is mainly manifested in the increase of the second peak value of the velocity. It should be helpful for the study of pollutant diffusion, sediment transport and coastal geomorphology.
