A statistic analysis of bow anchor weights of sea-going merchant ships

Anchor weights of typical merchant vessels was statistically analyzed in order to show intuitively the correlation of bow anchor weights and ship size, and the fitting analysis of relation of bow anchor weights with ship deadweight, maximum capacity of TEUs and gross tonnage was carried out by using the least square method, and some estimative formulas were obtained, and compared with pre-existing formulas. The results should be valuable to the design and evaluation of some offshore engineering projects.
