Abstract

To minimize the cement amount in ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) and design a kind of more “green” concrete, this paper investigated the workability, mechanical properties and microstructure of UHPC with various supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) composed of limestone powder (LSP), silica fume (SF), rice husk ash (RHA) and kaoline (KL) in different proportions. Results indicate that the mixture with cement replacement up to 50% exhibits equivalent compressive strength as compared with reference sample, and for similar chemical composition, the fineness of RHA has a significant effect on the mechanical properties of UHPC. The equivalent factor (k-value) of various SCMs was calculated based on experimental result. Furthermore, the suitable proportions of these materials in UHPC for optimum mechanical properties were provided.
