Abstract

The inadaptability of current commercial semi-submersible ships to the polar region was pointed out, and the importance of research and development of polar semi-submersible ship was analyzed. In view of the existing problems, the research and development direction of semi-submersible ship in the aspects of ice zones strengthening, major parts placement, stability improvement, deck heating and binding strength was put forward.
