Abstract

In order to accurately predict the cavitation flow field characteristics of the squeeze oil film damper, a three-dimensional unsteady cavitation flow field solving model for non-concentric squeezed film dampers was established based on ANSYS-Fluent software. Three kinds of cavitation models of Zwart-GerberBelamri (Z-G-B), Schnerr-Sauer (S-S) and Singhal were used to calculate the pressure on observing points of the squeeze film damper, and to compare with the experimental data. Furthermore, the oil film pressure and cavitation distribution, cavitation ratio in the flow field and oil film force characteristics were compared for three cavitation models. Results show that the numerical results of S-S model are in good agreement with the experimental data, which can be used to describe the cavitation flow field characteristics of squeeze film damper, which provide a validated model and method for the simulation of cavitation flow field of squeeze film damper.
